My approach to teaching involves a strong emphasis on proper technique, musicianship, and practice dedication. I ensure that all my students can read music, and that they have a strong understanding of music theory. I also actively encourage my students to listen to piano music so that they can find pieces that they enjoy learning and performing. As I get to know each student, I make small adjustments to my teaching methods to best suit their preferred learning style.
A standard practice routine for my students consists of scales, arpeggios, finger speed/strength exercises, pieces, sight-reading, and aural training. Music theory is also incorporated into lessons and given as homework. Practice routines are set and changed weekly to enhance improvement.
I can also guide students through ABRSM or Trinity Piano and music theory exams.
